The state has issued Orange Alert in 6 districts and Yellow Alert in 20 districts today. Heavy rains are also forecast in the state for the next five days. The wind has started blowing in Ahmedabad since this morning. All district administrations have been kept on stand-by. Cyclone Gulab weakened two days ago after hitting the coast of Odisha. The meteorological department has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in some parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan due to the cyclone. Especially in South Gujarat and Saurashtra, heavy to very heavy rains are likely for the next three days.
Rainfall in 190 talukas of the state in last 24 hours
In the last 24 hours, 190 talukas of the state received heavy rainfall. Heavy rains lashed the state on Tuesday. In Saurashtra, Central Gujarat and South Gujarat, four state highways, 138 panchayat roads and a total of 142 roads have been closed. Districts including Surat, Narmada, Valsad, Ahmedabad, Anand, Tapi, Bharuch have received more than 100 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. Rainfall of 218 mm in Umarpada and 192 mm in Palsana has created waterlogged conditions.
