The Gujarat government has decided to postpone the board exams of Std. 10 and 12 and has announced mass promotions for Std. 1 to 9 and Std. 11 students. This is the first time that students have been given mass promotion for the second year in a row. Chief Minister Rupani said that a decision on the new dates of the board examination would be taken after review on May 15. Following the central government, the Gujarat government has also decided to give mass promotion to more than 50 lakh students of Std. The State Government had organized the Std. 10-12 examination from 10th to 25th May by the Board of Secondary and Higher Education. The Chief Minister had announced that it would be taken at the scheduled time but due to the deteriorating situation, it has been decided to postpone the board exams.

Decision after 15th May regarding new date of board examination
A review of when and how the state government will conduct Std. 10-12 examination will be held on 15th May. During this review students will be given 15 days to prepare before deciding on the schedule of the exam. Earlier, states including Haryana and Rajasthan had also decided to postpone the exams.

Offline classes will no longer be closed from April 30 but until May 10. Online education in all classes will remain the same.
In Std. 6 to 12, the state government had banned offline education till April 30. In view of the transition, the government has announced that classes at the school will be closed till May 10. It may be mentioned that the CBSE board had canceled the standard 12 examination and announced mass promotion in standard 10.
