The government has given good news today for central government employees and pensioners. It has been decided to increase the dearness allowance as a Diwali gift to him. The cabinet meeting today approved a 3 per cent hike in dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners.

A 3% increase in DA means that the inflation allowance (DA) will now be 31%. The government's decision will benefit more than 1 crore central employees and pensioners.

In July this year, the government had hiked the inflation allowance by 11 per cent to 28 per cent. Earlier, inflation allowance was paid at 17 per cent.

Why the increase?

In fact, the Labor Ministry had released the AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index) figures for the last 3 months. It included figures for June, July, and August. The AICPI index reached 123 points in August. This is an indication that the government may increase the inflation allowance in the near future. Based on this, the dearness allowance of central employees is determined.
